Donna M.Z. Hoover is a writer whose work explores addiction, trauma, resilience, and the enduring bonds of family. Born into a military family and raised across states and oceans, she learned early about both fragility and strength—lessons that later shaped her voice on the page.

For more than thirteen years, Donna has written for a California magazine, where she has interviewed a diverse range of people, including well-known personalities and individuals with remarkable stories and accomplishments. Her work reflects her curiosity about people and the experiences that shape their lives, with a writing style that blends honesty, warmth, and emotional depth.

Her debut book, Wandering in the Shadows, is a deeply personal story of love, addiction, trauma, faith, redemption, and the enduring power of family. Written from a sister's perspective, it explores not only the journey of a woman struggling to find her way home, but also the impact that struggle has on the people who love her.

Donna is also a lifelong creative, expressing herself through many forms of storytelling. She is a lead vocalist who has performed with several bands, a painter, photographer, videographer, and actress. Her experience across these artistic disciplines brings a unique perspective to her writing and reflects her belief that stories can be told in countless ways.

She lives in Florida with her husband and their beloved cats, continuing to write, perform, create, and tell stories that remind readers that even in the darkest places, hope can still find a way in.
