About Us

Our Mission

In 2011, Writers League of the Villages was founded in partnership with The Villages Recreation Department.

Our mission is to offer support and education to all published and unpublished WLOV members; to collaborate with other writing groups and literary organizations; and to cooperatively promote The Villages as a cultural center for the arts.

In 2019, Writers League of the Villages (WLOV) became a 501(c)(3) non-profit and established a Scholarship Committee.

Membership is open to all residents of The Villages whether they are writers or readers. If you're not a Villager you can still join as an associate member.

General Information

Monthly meetings focus on all aspects of writing. Many members are published authors willing to share their knowledge and experience. Learning from each other is a hallmark of our meetings. We do not meet in June or July.

Our Members

We currently have more than 280 members, many of whom are published authors.Typically, 75 members attend our monthly meetings, but fewer in the summer months.

Education

Professional speakers are scheduled throughout the year at monthly meetings. Panel discussions are held along with special events. A hallmark of our gatherings is to meet and network with other writers to share experiences and expertise.

Networking

Special events take place throughout the seasons. One of our biggest is the annual WLOV Central Florida Book Expo usually held in January of each year. Watch for more information.
